Status update:
The new server is is place. There is some tweaking left to do, but all is working. Moving Server 2008 R2 to different hardware is not so easy to do if the disk controllers are of different types. But i got it done by moving a SATA controller from the old box to the new so Server 2008 would boot. Then I pulled the SATA card after the new motherboard hard disk controller was configured. The server now has 8 gig of ram after all this. It's the same Intel Q9400 processor, so any extra speed comes from the SSD boot drive, more memory, and the new dedicated page file disk.
It's only the giving that makes you what you are.
